
From the exhibit Terres d'Afrique et d'ailleurs
Architect and professor Ronald Rael has been invited to speak at the 2nd Pan African Cultural Festival in Algiers, Algeria, April 27, 2010. As part of the festival an exhibit and symposium entitled Terres, d’Afrique et d’Ailleurs, sponsored by the Algerian Ministry of culture and curated by architect Yasmine Terkhi, facilitated the participation of 19 artisans from 5 countries (Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Niger, Ghana, Nigeria, Algeria) who prepared wall panels in earth using indigenous techniques and motifs from the communities they represented. The presentation, Earth Architecture: A Digital Future will be presented during Architerre, which is a week of the promotion of earthen architecture from 25 to 28 April 2010 at the Polytechnic School of Architecture and Planning in Algiers. Other invited speakers include Hubert Gillaud, Hugo Houben, Salma Damluji, Marcello Cortes, Laetitia Fontaine and many other internationally renowned experts in the field of earth architecture.
